The Whisper Room loves to present Pour It & Poet to allow the Lafayette community to come together and celebrate poets and poetry while enjoying delicious drinks! Proceeds of June’s Pour It & Poet will be donated to New Orleans Abortion Fund, a non-profit organization that partners with callers from across the Gulf South to connect them with the funding and resources they need to access abortion care through compassionate support that affirms the dignity of people seeking abortion care. The evening will begin on Wednesday, June 8 at 7pm in The Whisper Room at Beausoleil Books with a reading by Gabrielle ”Gabby” Hoffpauir-Rosatto. Gabby is a UL student and writer focused primarily in poetry and poetry prose. Gabby’s passions include human rights, Clarice Lispector, mental health advocacy, and her two cats—Sushi and Dru. Gabby’s work has been published in UL’s Southwestern Review, including poems such as ‘rot,’ ‘a poem about nothing,’ and ‘TORCH.’ Following Gabby’s reading, the mic will be open to anyone who would like to perform. All artists should feel free to perform during this open mic. Pour It & Poet is a night that allows people to come together and celebrate the human experience, so all attendees are expected to give the performers respect and encouragement. As is true at all Beausoleil Books events, harassing or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
