Hello, Patchogue! I'm Nicole and I'm filling in for your usual curator Debora this week. Please note that your newsletters may be a bit lighter during this time. Now, here are all the most important things to know about what's happening locally. First, today's weather: Mostly sunny and pleasant. High: 77 Low: 59. Here are the top three stories in and around Patchogue today: The Suffolk County Police Department arrested two women for illegally selling fireworks on Friday. Danielle Treadwell, 47-years-old, and Althea Hatcher, 56-years-old, were arrested for selling the fireworks at Mastic's Smokes R Us on Poospatuck Lane. The department was notified through a community complaint. (Patch) The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office has charged a Queens man for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl. According to the District Attorney, Andrew Ramsaroop met the girl through Snapchat and convinced her to meet him at a mall in Suffolk County. He has been charged with two counts of second-degree rape, one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. (CNN) Suffolk County officials have used a "Red Flag" law to seize 160 guns throughout the county. The law allows a judge to approve authorities removing guns from an individual that the court believes poses a danger to the public. President Joe Biden has urged Congress to pass a similar "Red Flag" law nationally.
