NVCC Offering Manufacturing Scholarships at New Danbury Location

June 2- Now is the time to explore opportunities for a new career, a career change, or career advancement in advanced manufacturing. Naugatuck Valley Community College opened a new, state-of-the-art facility to house their Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC) program in Danbury earlier this year. Located at Western Connecticut State University, the 3,000-square-foot space provides students with hands-on training that will prepare them for jobs in manufacturing in the Danbury area. Linde plc, a leading global industrial gases and engineering company with U.S. headquarters in Danbury, is once again generously funding The Linde Skills Pipeline Workforce Development program at NVCC's Danbury location. This program offers full scholarships to selected participants and covers tuition, books, materials, the technical equipment package, and support for certificate testing fees in the 10-month Linde Skills Pipeline Workforce Development program. Two information sessions are being held in June: Saturday, June 4, from 11 am- noon and Thursday, June 23, from 3:30 pm- 4:30 pm.These sessions allow prospective students to tour the new location and attend a scholarship information session. Interested students should contact Marlene Cornwell, AMTC Danbury Site Coordinator, at [email protected] Students can also learn more about the Linde scholarship, download the scholarship application, and find out how to apply to NVCC at www.nv.edu/linde Students at NVCC's Danbury AMTC complete a two-semester certificate program and earn a total of 31 credits, which can be applied to engineering technology or technology studies associate degree programs. In addition, each student can earn an OSHA 10 Certificate and National Institute for Metal Working Skills (NIMS) nationally recognized credential in two semesters. NVCC students are placed in internships with one of 21 local manufacturing partners and approximately 95% of NVCC graduates are placed into full-time jobs.
