The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Westfield is again celebrating Juneteenth with a special African American history bus ride through Westfield. The roughly 90-minute tour will include live narration and will visit sites that anchor the 300 years of African American history in town. The tour will include among other sites, the Burial Grounds of the Presbyterian Church, Fairview Cemetery, Westfield’s Black Professional Zone, Brightwood Park, and places where Zora Neale Hurston, Langston Hughes, and Paul Robeson lived. The tour, which will run rain or shine, begins at the Lord & Taylor Parking Lot East on North Avenue. Seats on the tour are limited and registration is required. There is a $10 registration fee. Proceeds will be used to further the MLK Association’s work, specifically its African American History Project. There are two time slots on Saturday, June 18th: 9:30am and 11:15am.
