Description
I need a light handed, brush playing, shuffle loving drummer, lead guitarist, and bass player for a singer/songwriter/guitarist with a bunch of simple good songs.
I’m looking to perform my songs live and record an album.
I you already have an established band that could do these songs with me, I am willing to pay good if it feels right.
I grew up a classic rock/metal kid, but I prefer playing my own style of country, it’s kind of outlaw, kind of Texas Americana, and I’d love to think it’s kind of cow punk whatever that really is. I do a handful of covers too, but I only play them in my own style, usually adding some twang and shuffle to what was a straight rock song.
I’ve got a gruff untrained voice and I’m probably even less on guitar, but I’ve been putting in the work for decades on my own. I was in bands when I was a kid but, I’ve been involved with the music professionally since I was 17. First I was a drummer then a manager and I still make my living from music working for other artists.
I’m not interested in a covers band but, here’s some of the music I love that probably inspire my style: Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Avett Brothers, Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakum, early Tragically Hip, Jay Hawks, Rick Rubin’s Johnny Cash, (I loved original Skynyrd, especially the non-radio stuff) and really all classic country but I didn’t start listening to that until I was in my mid 40’s. Before I ever gave country a chance my fav rock stuff was always Zeppelin, Beatles and then early metal Sabbath to Slayer, then U2, and early Punk, dark 80’s new wave stuff (Kiss when I was a kid, Sones when I got older).
I don’t need to be famous but I do need to record my songs with a good band. I have enough experience to know that the only good music is recorded with a band that has put in the work and cares about the material. I can do that.
I’m in central/northwest Houston.
I’ll send examples if you are interested.
