Description

Press release from Belmont Public Schools: June 1, 2022 To purchase a STAR AWARD in 1997 you had to cut out a STAR Award form from a newsletter, fill it out, and mail it with your check to the FBE. So much easier now! However, the message from 1997 is still relevant today: Frequently, teachers do special things for students in their classes. Beyond saying thank you, do you wish there was something else you could do? Well, now there is. You can honor that teacher with a S.T.A.R. (Staff, Teacher Appreciation and Recognition) certificate from the Foundation for Belmont Education. For a contribution of $15 or more, the Foundation will send that special teacher a printed S.T.A.R. certificate. This certificate will include the teacher's name, school, date, and your name. The amount of your contribution will not be mentioned on the certificate. This is a great way to recognize a teacher for a job well done. The contribution you make goes to the Foundation toward its work in bringing excellence to our schools. Please fill out the form and mail with your check to P.O. Box 518, Belmont, MA 02178. The certificate will be sent directly from the Foundation to the teacher. STAR Awards make a wonderful year-end gift, AND your donation supports the FBE's mission. Take advantage of our 25th anniversary celebration and purchase your Awards by June 7th for just $15! This academic year the FBE has awarded 10+ grants for programs in the Belmont Public Schools, including Math Manipulatives, Model DNA and RNA kits, resources for Mental Health Literacy in 8th Grade, and sending representatives from BHS to the Computer Science Teachers Association Annual Conference. Despite our need to rethink our fundraising events yet again as we adapted to living with Covid, Belmont has been there to support us. Thank you for helping us raise funds to continue to support our teachers and students. The Foundation for Belmont Education (FBE) is an independent, non-profit organization run by volunteers who are dedicated to improving educational opportunities for Belmont's students and teachers. The FBE funds grants to educators in the Belmont Public Schools to implement innovative programs and advanced technology that result in richer and deeper learning experiences for BPS students - from small grants that benefit a single classroom to large programs designed to benefit students in an entire grade, school, or district wide. Grants are awarded in all school curriculum areas and for special initiatives and professional development. This press release was produced by Belmont Public Schools.
