4 Hospitalized Following Crash On I-84 In Danbury

DANBURY, CT — Four people were hospitalized following a crash on Interstate 84 Sunday night A 38-year-old New Milford man driving a 2012 Infiniti G37 made "multiple lane changes" between Exits 5 and 4 before striking the rear of a 2018 BMW 330i, according to a state police report. The impact caused the BMW, driven by a 69-year-old man Thornwood, NY, man to roll over along a wooded embankment. First responders were notified of the accident shortly after 9 p.m. "The vehicle requiring extrication was on its side facing the opposite direction of traffic resting with its roof up against the concrete barrier creating a difficult extrication," according to firefighters who posted on Facebook. Three people were trapped inside the car and a fire was burning in the engine compartment, according to firefighters, who "quickly extinguished" it, according to their report. Two of the passengers in the BMW, and the Infiniti's driver and passenger, were taken to Danbury Hospital. The crash is currently under investigation by the state police.
