It’s been far too long! On June 18, the Historic Magnolia House presents RISE UP, where DJs Alvin Shavers and Tomie B AKA DJ Real will reunite to bring you a celebration of Juneteenth, the June 19 holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. What better place to celebrate than at the recently renovated Magnolia House, a former Green Book site and Greensboro’s first prominent hotel for people of color during the Jim Crow era? This time around, we will eat, sip & dance outdoors in the Magnolia House’s new and gorgeous adjacent Pavilion to the sounds of afro, soulful, tech, and deep house. If you’ve been to a RISE UP party before, you know the vibe – a widely diverse crowd moving together in joy and harmony. And if you’ve never been, you’re in for a real treat: RISE UP is a unique celebration of soul, music, and freedom. Grab some friends and your dancing shoes and join us at this historic place to honor this historic day, from 6 p.m. until midnight. Early tickets are just $10 or pay $15 at the door. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Don’t miss out – RISE UP with us!
