First, today's weather: Mostly cloudy. High: 92 Low: 77. Here are the top four stories today in New Orleans: Gun sales across NOLA and the Nation are soaring after President Biden's June 2 Control Speech. Not only are sales increasing but the value of firearms are as well, many people can purchase a gun and sell it back for more than they paid. (WGNO New Orleans) NOPD is investigating a Saturday morning homicide that left one victim just off I-10 Service road East. The victim, a male, suffered a gunshot wound and was found lying in the grass just after 6 a.m. (WWLTV.com) Due to the increase of clean-up crew costs, the New Orleans Pride Parade may be in jeopardy. The City of New Orleans requires that parades hire a clean up crew before they roll, but the post-pandemic price increase is so high that organizers fear they won't be able to afford it. (WDSU New Orleans) Despite the recent spike of juvenile delinquency rates, New Orleans has been decreasing the funding for multiple juvenile crime prevention programs. Incentives like Teen Court and Juvenile Courts which have demonstrated their usefulness in the past have both faced at least 20% cuts in their budgets. The film festival celebrates the horror and haunted of New Orleans' spirit and features a variety of films and performances.
