Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today: An online scam is costing potential UNO students thousands of dollars by catfishing them into thinking they've been accepted to the university. Victims reported receiving calls claiming that they had been awarded a scholarship to an online doctorate program and they only needed to pay an acceptance fee. (NOLA.com) In another example of pandemic staffing issues, only five of New Orleans' outdoor pools will open this summer due to a shortage of lifeguards. The city is still hiring in hopes that it could potentially open a few more It has increased pay as an incentive. (WWLTV.com) Energy rates for South Louisiana are expected to increase this month by as much as $25 per household due to storms and high gas prices. The New Orleans City Council is also currently deciding wether or not to approve a plan to pay for Entergy's storm repairs which might also increase the cost for customers.
