WOODBRIDGE, NJ — There have been far more coronavirus cases in Woodbridge in the second wave of the virus than in the first. That's the message from Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac, who said the town has been tracking COVID numbers for about 41 weeks now, starting in March 15. Half of Woodbridge's total number of cases since then have been in the last seven weeks and half were in the first 34 weeks. "The second wave has had a far greater impact than the first and with winter here and people forced indoors the numbers are likely to stay high for a while," said McCormac. The New Jersey Department of Health has designated the Woodbridge Health Department as a point of distribution for the Moderna vaccine. According to regulations established by Governor Murphy's COVID-19 Task Force, the first doses are allocated to healthcare workers and EMTs. Woodbridge residents can get the vaccine at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison. That is expected to open by early January.
