Press release from the City of Minnetonka: June 2, 2022 Our Bike Patrol Unit recently celebrated the end of the school year with fourth-graders from Scenic Heights Elementary. The students and officers rode their bikes to Dairy Queen for a cool treat. This summer, as you climb aboard two wheels to discover Minnetonka, our bike patrol officers share these tips: Wear protective equipment like a helmet and reflective gear or bright clothing. Ride on the correct side of roads and trails. Beware of traffic, pedestrians and obey traffic laws. Assume drivers do not see you. Don't forget to tie and tuck in your shoe laces. Ride safely and plan a route. Did you know? The Minnetonka Bike Patrol Unit consists of 11 officers and one community service officer. Police officers must complete a 40-hour International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) Police Cyclist course before joining the team. For more bike safety tips, visit the National Safety Council's bike safety website. This press release was produced by the City of Minnetonka. The views expressed here are the author's own.
