What's Open, Closed In Annapolis On New Year's Weekend

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The New Year will be a little different this time around. With coronavirus cases spiking, many celebrations were canceled. The one thing locals can count on is a scheduled holiday. Many government services are already affected by coronavirus closures, but the holiday will shake up their hours more. Here is what's opened and closed around Friday's holiday: Government Offices: Anne Arundel County government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Annapolis offices will be open both days. Courts: Courts are closed Thursday and Friday. Court hours are listed here. Parks: All parks will be open for their normal hours. Park hours are listed here. This interactive map shows the parks closest to you. Libraries: All Anne Arundel County Public Library branches will be closed on Friday. They will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Libraries are currently closed for in-person service. They are open for curbside pickup, however. A full list of library hours and contact information is posted here. Post Offices: Post offices will be closed on Friday. Trash And Recycling: All landfills and recycling centers will be closed on Thursday and Friday. A schedule of all Anne Arundel County trash and recycling operations is available here. Annapolis trash pickup will have some shakeups. Thursday pickup will continue as scheduled. Friday collection will be pushed to Saturday. Anybody with questions about the city's trash removal should reach out to Annapolis Public Works. Buses: The Annapolis bus schedule will run limited routes on the holiday. Only the purple bus will run on Friday. That line will run on a Sunday schedule. The County Connector will run on a Sunday schedule this Friday. All Anne Arundel County buses, including paratransit, will run on Thursday. Fixed routes will operate until 8 p.m., and the South County Call N' Ride will shut down at 4 p.m. No county buses will run on Friday. They return to a normal schedule on Saturday.
