Electrician question NEST Smart Thermostat model E

PEPCO has this energy efficiency program where a customer is able to have installed a Google NEST MODELL E smart thermostat. I'm thinking of doing this. Is there any downside to upgrading to this device? Thanks. I have a gas furnace, electrical AC condenser and have been advised they ARE compatible with the NEST device. Nothing now is broken. Thanks
