Description
Just moved to Newark last year, ready to start a group. I have jam space with PA. Currently have an electronic drum kit, real drums are on my to-get list for the future if I can get something going here. I play heavy blues based rock as my staple, but am capable of any style, including jazz/swing, pop, old school metal and hard rock, 80s rock, etc. I am 52, grew up in the 70s and 80s and that's what I know best. Not really into country.
Looking for bassist, drummer, maybe a singer...but I am a decent vocalist and would like to keep it compact.
I am not interested in standard bar band covers (Gimme 3 Steps, Keep Your Hands to Yourself, Mustang Sally, et al). My goal is to get out and playing fun music. If you're looking for someone to come in and play the same old cover band stuff, then I'm not your guy. I am well-versed in heavy blues-based rock (Hendrix, Trower, Zep, Purple, Rory Gallagher, etc), have the guitar skills, and can put on a show. Write songs, too...but looking for common-ground covers to get jamming.
No beginners, please. Looking to put on a good memorable show, or at the very least have fun playing some tunes with people who can keep up, know where the changes are in a 12-bar, can keep a steady slow tempo on a blues dirge without speeding up, can go off-script and improvise when needed, etc. Jazz musicians who know how to rock would be ideal, but one can always dream. Serious musicians and inquiries only, no drunks or grown juveniles. Please actually be available. If you can't do at least a couple times a month for a rehearsal/jam or a gig, then please don't bother. I promise to keep this as low-maintenance as possible. Young 'uns (21+) welcome if you're a fan of the genre and have the skills and maturity. Doing this for the love of the craft with no preconceptions of greatness, but would still like to play out and see what happens.
