NEW Pick up & ship taro/kalo

Jobs

Kahului HI

Description

I need someone to go to Home Depot, purchase 2 taro/kalo plants (the "Mana piko" variety), drive to the Kahului Airport to get them USDA inspected (very easy), pack them there, and drive to the UPS store to ship them to me on the mainland. The process is easy, but details below are provided in case of confusion. Should only take a few hours. The gig itself pays $100 OBO, but I'll reimburse you for the plants/packaging materials/shipping. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DETAILS: Step 1 - Drive to Home Depot - they're open from 6am to 10pm (7am - 7pm on Sundays). Their address is "100 Pakaula St, Kahului, HI 96732". I'm looking for 2 Mana Piko taro/kalo plants. I expect the plant to cost ~$20 each, but I'll send you the money for that so you can pay. Step 2 – You’ll need to get some supplies to pack the plants: a few paper towels, some plastic wrap, some newspaper, and then a box that will fit the plants and some tape to seal it up. If you send me the receipts for this stuff when you’re done, I can reimburse you for all of that on top of the payment for the gig. Step 3 – Take the plants out of the pots that they came in from the botanical garden. You’ll need to brush all of the dirt off of the roots. Then, for each plant, soak a paper towel in water and wrap it around the roots of the plant. Then wrap that paper towel in plastic wrap. This website has some pictures of how the plants should end up looking: Step 4 – Take the plastic-wrapped plants, the box, tape, and newspaper to the Kahului Airport. The Department of Agriculture (USDA) has their inspection office in the airport ticketing lobby, near the signs for United and Alaska Airlines. There should be someone from the USDA there (they are open until 10:30pm every day), tell them that you are shipping a package of taro and need to get it inspected. They will have someone come out and look at the taro, and then have you pack it in front of them. You’ll need to wrap the tops of the plants (the part not covered with paper towels and plastic wrap) in newspaper, and then crumple up the rest of the newspaper to pad the box. Then the inspector should have you seal the box in front of them so that they can put a USDA stamp on it. Step 5 – Once that’s done, the last step is to drive the box of taro over to the UPS Store at “153 E Kamehameha Ave Ste 104, Kahului”. It’s open from 8am to 6pm. You’ll need to take the box up to the desk for them to measure/weigh and ask the prices for “Second Day Air” and “Ground” deliveries to my address on the mainland. Because I don’t know how big the box is going to be, I don’t know how much UPS is going to charge to ship it, so I’d like you to call me once you get the two prices so that I can decide which one to go with. Once the box is shipped, the gig is complete and I just need you to send me your receipts so that I can reimburse you!
