The traveling world war two exhibit in Garland officially opens on June 6th and you will be able to check it out on the 18th! Stop by between 11am-3pm for food trucks, kid friendly activities, live music & more in Garland city square! PLUS, there is a photo contest to win $500+ of prizes!! EVENT DETAILS This family-friendly event will be the perfect way to spend your Saturday! Kids can enjoy activities from sidewalk chalk drawing to coloring sheets & more! There will be food trucks and beer & wine available for purchase, live music, american photo opps & more fun surprises! This event is also dog friendly (not inside the exhibit though). THE WORLD WAR II EXHIBIT A 1500 square-foot traveling national world war II museum exhibit is making its way to Garland! The exhibit officially opens today on the 78th anniversary of D-Day, in Garland City Hall and includes wartime artifacts, photographs, interactive exhibits and panels about Garland’s war-era production history. The exhibit debuted at The National WWII Museum in 2014 and has continued to be a traveling exhibit across the country! The exhibit is free to the public open Monday-Saturday (closed on Sundays) and is here until August 12th. PHOTO CONTEST There is a digital and in person photo contest to win some epic prizes! The Digital contest winner will be announced 48 hours before the event, but must attend the event on the 18th to receive prize. TO ENTER: post a a photo on your Instagram or Facebook feed dressed up in your best Rosie the Riveter inspired attire and use #TXMADEHERE on the photo! The in-person contest will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at City Hall in Garland There will be TWO winners – one digital and one on-site and each will win a blue Electra Cruiser bike, a $100 gift card to REI for bike accessories, and $50 in downtown dollars to spend in Downtown Garland. RSVP + PARKING This event is free but please RSVP so we know how many people to expect/ supplies to order! There is free parking around the square and city.
