Press release from the City of Iowa City: June 1, 2022 The City of Iowa City will be closing multiple streets Thursday, June 2, through Sunday, June 5, 2022, for the Iowa Arts Festival. The annual art and music festival organized by the Summer of the Arts brings dozens of artists selling their work, many musical performances, and activities for the whole family. This year's event will take place in Downtown Iowa City from Friday, June 3 to Sunday, June. 5, 2022. Road closure and parking impacts The following roads will be closed for the festival at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, and will reopen late night Sunday, June 5: Clinton Street from Jefferson to WashingtonIowa Avenue from Clinton to Dubuque The following roads will be closed for the festival at 6 a.m. on Friday, June 3, and will reopen late night Sunday, June 5: Dubuque Street from Washington to JeffersonLinn Street from Washington to IowaWashington Street from Clinton to LinnIowa Avenue from Dubuque to Linn Parking meters on all impacted streets will be marked with "No Parking" signs before the event. Cars in violation of these regulations will be towed. Metered spots in this area do not allow parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. and these parking regulations will be enforced. Follow all posted parking signs to prevent your vehicle from being towed. In addition to reduced street parking, some ramp and lot parking will be reserved for festival vendors, artists, performers, and service vehicles. Look for posted signs indicating restricted parking. The Parking Division will be operating a normal weekday and weekend schedule from Thursday, June 2, through Sunday, June 5. Parking ramps will remain open and staffed. Bus detours Starting at 6 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2022, the bus interchange will move from Washington Street and Clinton Street to a temporary location on Court Street between Clinton and Dubuque (adjacent to the Court Street Transportation Center) until the service day is concluded on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Normal bus service utilizing the main transit interchange will resume on Monday, June 6, 2022. Iowa City Transit will be operating a normal weekday and Saturday schedules during Arts Fest. The outbound bus stops located at Washington Street & Linn Street (stop 7200), Washington Street and Gilbert Street (stop 7201), Clinton Street & Jefferson Street (stop 7400), Jefferson Street & Linn Street (stop 7401), Washington Street and Madison Street (stop 7082) will be closed. The inbound bus stops located at Madison Street & Washington Street (stop 7081),UI Lindquist Center ( stop 7079), Market Street & Linn Street (stop 7206), Clinton Street & Jefferson Street (stop 7207), IC Recreation Center (stop 7243), and Burlington Street & Dubuque Street (stop 7244) will also be closed. Customers who use these stops should catch their buses at the alternate interchange on Court Street. These stops will reopen on Monday, June 6, 2022. Friday, June 3: Iowa City Transit will run a normal weekday schedule from the alternate interchange on Court Street. The detours and stop closures started on Thursday, June 2, 2022, will still be in effect.Saturday, June 4: Iowa City Transit will run a normal Saturday schedule from the alternate interchange on Court Street. The detours and stop closures started on Thursday, June 2, 2022, will still be in effect.Sunday, June 5: No bus service. Use the Transit App to keep track of changes; routes will be updated.
