Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Operations and the Facilities Supervisor, this role will be involved throughout the full scope of the facilities function. As such, this non-exempt position assists with maintenance, janitorial, groundskeeping, event management including athletic practices and competitions, and small to medium project delivery. More specifically, this position: Coordinates with facilities maintenance staff who perform maintenance services and repairs in the areas of plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, painting, grounds, and machine and electrical servicing for the organization's buildings and grounds. Coordinates with the custodial lead and crew to ensure the campus is kept clean and orderly including such cleaning that is required for School events. Assumes responsibility for projects as assigned including the management of vendors and contractors to ensure such projects are executed in a timely, cost effective, and high-quality manner. Partners with School staff, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure events and athletic practices and competitions run smoothly. This may be at times be a “hands on” position that requires some physical effort involving continuous light work up to occasional heavy work in moving or lifting furniture and equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: Manages projects from start to finish independently with little to no supervision. Assists with the preventive and routine maintenance and upkeep of assigned facilities including completing and overseeing a variety of semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, painting, heating, air conditioning, boilers, mechanical repair, and electrical work. Engages with facility employees to ensure all School areas are kept up to the standards expected for a well maintained, safe and clean environment. Maintains contact with various stakeholders regarding custodial services and event set ups; attends meetings; investigates and responds to complaints, addresses work requests, and responds to emergencies. Explains procedures, regulations, and obtains necessary resources in order to coordinate workflow and ensure effective and efficient operations. Helps develop and improve our preventive maintenance programs including working with and soliciting bids from contractors for work to be outsourced. Performs other related duties as required. Requirements: Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Minimum of five years prior facilities, maintenance and/or project management experience with significant trade knowledge in the following areas: plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems and controls, carpentry, etc. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents written in English such as work requests; repair requests and event set up agreements. Ability to speak effectively and empathetically with employees and individuals in a professional manner. Ability to speak and write Spanish is a plus. Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, or oral form. Ability to solve problems in a practical and efficient way. Customer and team focused: Ability to engage collaboratively and diplomatically with stakeholders and team members. Physical Abilities: Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Requires the ability to climb ladders, and occasionally work from heights. Requires the ability to work outdoors in hot and cool environments depending on the season.
