WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester Now | Next master planning project will soon enter a new phase with two meetings that will allow the public to give feedback on the city's future. The two "visioning" workshops coming up in June and July will let residents give planners ideas about where to steer transportation, housing, land use, park space and more. The meetings follow a citywide survey conducted over the last few months that collected ideas about what Worcester needs to do to improve the urban environment. The project should be complete in about a year, providing a map for city planners to use as Worcester grows. Last month, Worcester Human Rights Commission Chair Guillermo Creamer was hired to lead community outreach for the Now | Next project. He's aiming to draw residents from all parts of Worcester into the planning process. Here's when and where the upcoming meetings will take place: June 23, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Worcester Senior Center, 128 Providence St. RSVP here. "At this interactive workshop, you'll be able to explore patterns in the city and help refine a vision for the future. Explore interactive maps and graphics that address topics such as housing, transportation, economic opportunity, land use, and more. The planning team will also present initial findings from the spring citywide survey that ran during the months of April and May."July 7, 5:30 to 7 p.m., online. RSVP here. "For those who cannot attend in-person, there will be a virtual version of the workshop two weeks later on July 7 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. This online Zoom conference workshop will present the same information available at the in-person workshop, using tools like live polling and breakout rooms to support smaller group dialogue and activities."
