Description

SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon police fired shots at a driver shortly after midnight Monday at the onset of a police pursuit that ended in the South Bay. The driver, 48-year-old Sandy Lyons of Stockton, was not injured but was arrested later by Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies, the San Ramon Police Department said. San Ramon police said an officer was speaking with Lyons, who was in a car that had been stolen from a car dealership in Oakland. Lyons then began to flee, dragging an officer, and prompting another officer to fire several shots at Lyons and car, police said. The officer who was dragged by the car suffered minor injuries. The incident kicked off a police pursuit, which continued into the South Bay, police said. The car was ultimately disabled and Lyons was arrested on suspicion of resisting an officer, assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon, evading an officer and violating probation, police said.
