PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — With the promise of sunny skies in the forecast, Park Slope's popular Open Street is bringing a couple of events to the neighborhood this weekend. Tastes of Brooklyn, a mission-driven local food festival organization, is putting on its first ever Tastes of Park Slope event from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 4 all along the Fifth Avenue Open Street. The event, benefiting Seeds in the Middle's food access programming in Brooklyn, costs $35 for samples from four participating restaurants, or $100 for a dozen samples. All told, 19 restaurants (mostly along Fifth Avenue) are participating in the event, including SkyIce Thai Food & Ice Cream, Negril BK, Homemade by Miriam and more (see the full map here). On the same day from noon to 7 p.m. there will also be an artisans market on the Open Street. The pop-up market, which will set up between Union and Sterling streets, will include jewelry, beauty products, kids toys and more, organizers said. The Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District oversees the Open Street. Dubbed "The Other Fifth," the car-free community space will operate from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays in April, July, August, September, and October, and on Sundays in May and June (save from June 19, which is the Seventh Avenue Street Fair). Find out more about these events on the BID's website, here.
