Description

Volunteers can help out in a variety of ways this month, including trellising, weeding, and mulching. We also need help harvesting (and digging out) Houttuynia cordata and getting it fresh into the hands of community members who will honor and use it for food or medicine - if you're someone, or know someone, from a culture in which this plant plays a role (including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and others in Southeast Asia), please come get some. Point your friends in our direction, let your local Asian markets know about this availability in case they'd like to stock some, and come harvest for yourself to diversify your diet or add to your medicinal plant arsenal. Perks of volunteering include access to the garden and our incredible stock of powerful plant allies, refreshing beverages made fresh, plant and knowledge shares, and community! Please bring your own tools if you have them (a shovel, bucket, a hand digging tool, gloves, pruning shears, kneeling pad or stool if you use them). **Remember: This event takes place outside. Be sure to dress for the weather and possibility of insects. ** Potted seedlings and divisions are available for donation at all our public events, as well as seeds and printed or recorded publications from Jim and Peggy Duke and others. Masks covering mouth and nose are required onsite when using the indoor facilities.
