STRATFORD, CT — Stratford Superintendent of Schools Uyi Osunde is proposing cutting 27 positions across the district to help reach the $2.5 million in savings needed from the budget approved by the Board of Education in February, according to the Connecticut Post.
The Town Council allocated $123.2 million for the school district – $2.5 million less than the Board of Education requested – in the town budget that was approved last month, according to the Post.
The Post reports the proposed personnel cuts, which total nearly $1.7 million, include the principal position at Victoria Soto Elementary School (where the current principal is retiring), 10 district tutors, three secretaries, three reading teachers, and more.
