UE to Establish Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students

By John Gibson, WNIN June 3, 2022 The University of Evansville will establish a new scholarship fund for nontraditional students. UE says a $1.7 million gift from the Zane and Frances Todd Trust will establish the Todd Merit Scholarship Fund. Born in 1924, Zane Todd was a nontraditional student who graduated from Evansville Central High School and attended Evansville College – which would later become UE. After one year, he transferred and was drafted into the Army during World War II. UE says Todd led a remarkable life with a career at Indianapolis Power & Light Company that spanned four decades. He later retired in Florida with his wife, Frances, until his death in 2013. UE says the couple shared a vision for establishing a scholarship fund to support nontraditional students -- Zane was one himself. The gift will fund scholarships for nontraditional students majoring in engineering, computer science, the sciences, and nursing. Students can apply by visiting evansville.edu/apply.
