Press release from the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office: May 31, 2022 STANWOOD, Wash. – The Snohomish County Sheriff 's Office and the Stanwood Police Department announce Lieutenant Jason Toner as the new Stanwood Police Chief. The appointment, beginning June 1, comes after Police Chief Rebecca Lewis was selected as Bellingham Police Department's Chief of Police. Lt. Toner has served in many roles during his 15-year career at the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, including as a master patrol deputy, school resource officer, field training officer, explorer advisor and has worked for the cities of Snohomish and Gold Bar. In 2017, he was promoted to sergeant and worked for the city of Stanwood for 2.5 years. In 2021, Jason was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and most recently served as the Sheriff's Office Watch Commander. In addition, Lt. Toner has spent the last eight years as a volunteer coach for youth sports teams in Stanwood. "I am looking forward to returning to the city of Stanwood and having the opportunity to serve our residents as the chief of police," Lt. Toner said. "I am fortunate to call Stanwood my home for nearly a decade and I am excited to continue building relationships between law enforcement and our community. Public safety will always be our top priority and we are committed to providing professional and dedicated law enforcement services to our residents." "I have followed Lt.
