Description
MCLEAN, VA — As Capital Beltway lanes are realigned, project updates on the Interstate 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension will be given at two upcoming meetings. The Virginia Department of Transportation, Express Lanes operator Transurban, and the design-build contractor will host the two meetings June 6 and 7. The meeting will provide updates on upcoming construction activities, a preliminary construction timeline, anticipated construction impacts, project design changes, an interactive map with construction, design and plans, and coordination with the George Washington Memorial Parkway projects and Maryland's New American Legion Bridge I-270 Traffic Relief Plan. A presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. The first meeting will be this upcoming Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Langley High School Auditorium, 6520 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA (enter at door 14). A virtual meeting will follow Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Residents can join the meeting by phone at 1-517-466-2023 (toll) or 1-866-692-4530 (toll-free) with access code 242 197 66151 or through WebEx: https://covaconf.webex.com/covaconf/j.php?MTID=m18d86ef589b7a92fa586db32edd40eab. The I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension project will extend the existing Express Lanes from the Dulles Toll Road/Access Road interchange to the George Washington Memorial Parkway near the American Legion Bridge. The project update meetings come as VDOT is permanently closing the left shoulder lane and realigning other lanes. This reconfiguration will make room to construct new bridges on a wider Beltway at Old Dominion Drive, Georgetown Pike and Live Oak Drive. The estimated opening date for the Express Lanes extension is 2025. To stay up to date with the project, visit 495next.org.
