SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — A driver has been charged in connection with the pedestrian crash that killed a man in Spotsylvania on Tuesday night, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office said. The driver turned himself in to police on Thursday evening.
Police said the crash on Tuesday killed Keith Lawrence Ballard, a 32-year-old man from Burke. He died at the scene.
Authorities identified the driver as Stephanas Rennick, a 31-year-old man from Spotsylvania County. Police said Rennick turned himself in after he saw the sheriff's office news release.
Rennick is charged with felony hit and run causing injury or death. The sheriff's office said Rennick is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a secure bond.
Felony hit and run causing injury or death is a class 5 felony in Virginia. If convicted, Rennick could face up to 10 years in prison.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies found a dead man along the side of the road in the area of Harrison Road and Meadow Park Drive with visible injuries, according to the police report.
The sheriff's office accident reconstruction team determined that a car was travelling east on Harrison Road when it hit the pedestrian. Investigators noted that the collision caused several car parts to be left at the scene.

Authorities were looking for a 2012-2013 Silver Hyundai Azera with significant front end and passenger side damage. On Thursday, investigators found a car matching the description at Rennick's home.
