Driver Dies In Crash Near Sonoma, Napa County Line: CHP

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A woman died in a solo-vehicle crash Thursday on a rural roadway near the Sonoma/Napa county line. According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were dispatched at 6:12 p.m. Thursday to the crash on Franz Valley Road, south of Spencer Lane. "It was reported that a vehicle had driven off the roadway and collided with a tree," CHP Spokesperson David deRutte said. "Calistoga Fire Department personnel arrived on scene. A female driver and solo occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene." The CHP's preliminary investigation indicated the woman was traveling northbound on Franz Valley Road in a Ford Focus when for unknown reasons that were still under investigation, the Ford veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree. The driver's identity was being withheld pending the notification of her family members. The CHP asked anyone with information about the collision to call the Santa Rosa CHP Office at 707-588-1400.
