Description

#TalkingAAC is the only conference of its kind in Michigan - focusing exclusively on topics related to augmentative/alternative communication (AAC). This event is presented by a coalition of school districts across the state of Michigan. #TalkingAAC is open to teachers, therapists, staff, families, and other members of the community in roles supporting individuals with complex communication needs. Each day of the conference includes a keynote presentation. While the regular session focus on the "what" and the "how" of AAC, the keynote presentations focus on the "why." We believe in listening to the perspectives of people who use AAC and their families. Each year we select speakers who are parents or AAC users to share their perspective with the #TalkingAAC community. Besides a daily keynote presentation, attendees will select from a variety of topics over the course of this two-day event. Regular sessions are 75-minutes in length, allowing time for learning and discussion. A vendor space will be available for attendees to ask questions, try out equipment, and learn about new forms of technology. The cost for the two-day conference is $200. New for 2022! Lunch is included! Participants will receive a boxed lunch and drink at no additional charge. Parking will not be included (a max of $12/daily). Overnight guests staying at the Kellogg Center Hotel receive complimentary parking.About 8 weeks before the event, you'll be able to select your sessions and plan your conference agenda using SCHED. You will receive an email inviting you to select your sessions. We will also use SCHED to share session handouts and related materials. Watch for your invitation to the full schedule on SCHED in August. Note: Refunds are available up to 7-days before the event. Eventbrite fees are non-refundable. Registration transfers (changing the name on the registration to a coworker, for example) may be considered prior to October 25, 2022.
