Aurora students to travel abroad with Augustana Choir The Augustana Choir, under the direction of Dr. Jon Hurty, will perform in Germany and the Czech Republic during a tour May 24-June 7. Aurora natives participating include: Bailey King Emma Pilmer Cassidy Wiltjer The choir has six musical engagements during the tour, most at historic churches such as the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, Germany, which is associated with several well-known composers such as Wagner, Mendelssohn and Bach, who is interred there. The group also will tour Schloss Sanssouci in Potsdam, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig, the Terezin concentration camp and memorial, Prague Castle and Karlstejn Castle. — Merit Page News Aurora student named to dean's list at Bob Jones University In recognition of academic performance, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs at University of the Cumberlands has announced the students named to the Dean's List for the spring 2022 semester. To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours (a full course load), maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50, and be in good academic standing. May 6 and 7 in Powell Athletic Center. Local students who graduated from Campbellsville University are: Varun Kumar Kontamukkala of Aurora, IL Sabhari Rajan Periyaandhavar of Aurora, IL Hopkins presented an address telling of the experience of his family fulfilling one of his bucket list items - traveling to the Sahara Desert where he and his wife, Suzanne, and sons, Joseph and Vance, camped and enjoyed "who" was on their 115-degree heated trip. He told the graduates they are about to launch on a journey of their own. "Most often, the questions being asked at this stage are where, what, why and most especially, how?" he said, while he challenged them to add the who to their list of questions. — Merit Page News Audrey Hare recognized at Baldwin Wallace University's 128th White Rose Ceremony Audrey Hare of Aurora (60503) was nominated by faculty and staff to take part in Baldwin Wallace University's 128th Annual White Rose Ceremony. Hare, a graduate of Benet Academy, was asked to participate in recognition of her special contribution to life at BW. The White Rose Ceremony is held each May during Commencement weekend in memory of Philura Gould Baldwin, BW's first librarian and granddaughter of BW founder John Baldwin. At the behest of the Baldwin family, an oration is given, and select female graduates carry white roses that serve as a memorial to Philura. There is no set of standards or criteria that must be met, but each woman must have, in her own unique way, distinguished herself by making a difference in the BW community. — Merit Page News Aurora students make Southern New Hampshire University dean's list It is with great pleasure that Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) congratulates the following students on being named to the Winter 2022 Dean's List. DeCapua is studying Exercise Science at the University of Evansville (UE), a private university located in Evansville, Indiana. More than 500 students at UE were named to the Dean's List.
