DETROIT — A man was arrested in Detroit after police said he pointed a laser at a police helicopter early Friday morning.
Michigan State Police said troopers were on air patrol over Hamtramck at 12:10 a.m. when they were struck multiple times by a green laser.
State troopers determined the laser was coming from a black BMW in a dark parking lot at Davison and Conant roads, officials said.
The BMW then drove away, but troopers stopped the car shortly later and found an 18-year-old man with a laser, officials said.
The man was arrested and placed at the Detroit Detention Center while the investigation continues, officials said. Pointing a laser device at aircraft in Michigan is a five-year felony.
No officers, including the pilot of the police helicopter were injured in the incident, officials said.
