Press release from the Guilford County Government: 06/03/2022 Guilford Creek Week, a joint venture between the Guilford County, City of Greensboro, City of High Point, and Stormwater SMART, returns June 4 through 11 to celebrate the importance, impact and influence of the creeks and waterways of Guilford County and the municipalities within. This campaign is aimed to raise awareness about the vital role of local waters and how the health of that water can have a direct impact on communities. There are multiple hands-on, recreational events for residents to participate in throughout the week. Most events are free and open to all ages. Some events have an age restriction for safety and some events require registration. Here's an example of two events visitors can look forward to: Guilford County Rain Barrel Class This is a free hands-on event sponsored by Guilford County, NC Cooperative Extension and Pepsi Bottling Ventures. Participants will take home one rain barrel with hardware installed. Guilford County Parks Family Fishing Day Bring your fishing poles for a fun and educational day at the Farm. Enjoy a demonstration of how to properly prepare and clean a fish for cooking. Learn about buffer zones and other Clean Water Management Tools. Herb and Vegetable Plant Sale in the greenhouse! Guilford County Farm- 7315 Howerton Rd, Gibsonville, NC Saturday, June 11 9 am – 12 pm The pond is stocked regularly by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. Guilford Creek Week is a collaborative effort between High Point, Greensboro, Guilford County and many other local businesses, government entities and non-profits working together to emphasize the importance and benefits of clean and healthy local waters. We do this through offering many fun, often free, educational, hands on and recreational opportunities. We are dedicated to helping raise awareness about the vital role that our local waters play in our everyday lives and how the health of that water can have a direct impact on our community.
