Rehoming Poodle/Maltese

Description

It is with deep sadness that I am setting out on a mission to find a new home for my furry friend. He is a year and a half old poodle and Maltese mix, he weighs around 18.5 pounds. I am the second home he has been in, I rescued/adopted him from an overwhelmed home in Las Vegas (while visiting my parents) earlier this year. He is house (potty) trained, crate trained, leash trained, and all-around an extremely well-behaved dog. He is great with other dogs and loves kids. He does have a bit of separation anxiety, and thus, I will be looking for a home where he won’t often be left alone. He is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle. He’s also very active. I will only be considering homes that have a plan to exercise him often (loves to chase frisbees), or that are committed to walking with him a minimum of an hour per day. Why am I looking for a new home for him? I began doing immunotherapy (with the aide of my allergist) at the beginning of 2020 with the hope that I could eliminate my dog allergy through exposure treatment. Early this year, I decided that my allergies were controlled well enough that I could wade into pet parenthood. Additionally, as he is a non-shedding, hypoallergenic bread, I figured he would have the smallest amount of allergens of any breed and would be easiest to tolerate. I have been with him for two months now, and unfortunately, my allergies and asthma were not cured by immunotherapy, and have not subsided, even with the use of a whole host of medicines. Sadly, I am not able to keep him and manage my own health. Thus, I am searching for a new home for him where he can continue to be happy and thrive. I am not in a tremendous rush and am truly dedicated to finding him a good home where he can be healthy, happy, and thrive. Please email me with as much information about yourself (living situation, plans for care, exercise, etc.) as you would like. I will read through emails and contact those that I believe may be a good fit as emails come in. So you’re prepared, I would like to do a home visit with him before deciding if the housing situation, family, etc. is appropriate for him before rehoming. Thank you for reading this all the way through. I do ask that you please indicate in your email that you have read all the way through this text, as this will inform me of the depth of your interest. Cheers.
