There is always "talk" after every mass shooting but no action. The majority of Americans favor gun safety laws, there is no question about that. Violence in America has increased to an unprecedented level. It's shameful and tragic. Of course, mental health should be more available to citizens, that's a given! However, it's nothing more than a meaningless excuse to put off actually doing something now. There is no way to know or control what disturbed people will do. Only stricter gun control laws, enforcing the laws, and reduction of guns will help. If radicalized shooters could not purchase assault weapons, mass shootings would decrease. It's unclear why anyone outside the military should be allowed to purchase them. One fact that is clear and indisputable: Gun lobbyists and the NRA have firm control over republicans in congress, and if the GOP does not stand up to these groups, they do not deserve to not be in office. That includes gun-loving Democrats as well. Voters must decide and take action.
