Position Summary:
A yard assistant provides day-to-day support to the auction and management staff. As a yard assistant, you will be interacting directly with customers and handle all the details required to complete each transaction. You are responsible for accepting, storing, and releasing auction inventory and must make detailed documentation of vehicles, equipment, and assorted personal property. A yard assistant is also in charge of warehouse and auction yard organization, as well as general facility maintenance. Other duties include tagging and arranging articles for sale, taking pictures and writing or typing descriptions of items to be put to our online auction page.
Must have experience in operating skid steers, fork trucks and telehandlers or have the ability to learn in a short time how to safely operate said equipment. Willingness to become Fork truck certified, in which certification will be done by our company fork truck instructor.
Ability to work in weather year-round, to work alone and with others, to work at a fast pace, to be detail oriented and the ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Interact directly with customers
Operate fork trucks, skid steers and telehandlers
Help load and unload customer property
Write descriptions and take pictures of items to be placed on auction
General facility maintenance (mowing lawn, weed whipping, building and yard cleanup)
Equipment maintenance (oil and filter changes, greasing joints)
Requirements and Qualifications:
High school diploma
Communication skills (Required)
