The combination of violin and piano has been a favorite of audiences for over three centuries. Composers of every era since 1700 have used this intimate ensemble as a vehicle for some of their most lyrical, ardent and dramatic expressions in music. In keeping with this tradition, the popular violin/piano duo of Ronald Lantz and Laura Kargul will offer a concert entitled “Love and Nostalgia,” featuring a program of deeply felt romantic works written between 1878 and 1970.
Over the past 12 years Lantz and Kargul have given concerts and held residencies in numerous venues across northern New England, as well as in Jamaica, Florida and Arizona. As veteran performers, they enjoy an unusual connection not only with each other, but also with their listeners. They bring a wealth of experience and perspective to their work and sprinkle their concerts liberally with informative, enlightening and humorous commentary. As one reviewer has written: "They gave the audience an unforgettable concert, one that provided sincere as well as passionate music making, a marvelous mix of intellect and musicianship of the highest order."
