Food Service: Cooks, Beverage, Salad, Lunch, Servers, Utility, Inventory, Quality Control, CDL and non CDL Drivers, and Management Help feed the firefighters! Fire camp locations are generally remote, often primitive, and workers sleep in their own tents in usually hot, dry, dusty conditions. In mountainous areas we sometimes encounter cold and wet weather as well. Most camps are provided with mobile shower units for camp personnel. Sani-cans are on site for toilet needs. Meals are provided. Federal Contractor required to work under Federal Laws, CDC and FDA guidelines Fire camps are drug, alcohol and weapon-free. Team members need to be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. as our food products are delivered and then moved about the camp in bulk. All team members are expected to be willing to do whatever tasks are necessary at the moment, packaging food, cleaning equipment, picking up trash, moving or inventory, food preparation and serving, etc. A Food Handler's Permit is required and may be quickly obtained online at www.orfoodhandlers.com. Having a driver's license is a plus, but not a requirement for employment. Having a CDL is a huge plus! While in camp, team members work long hours, so a good attitude is helpful as everyone gets fatigued. On the other hand, pay for the many overtime hours worked seems to help everyone's attitude. Starting pay is $15.00 per hour. Fringe pay for first 40 hours of work week only (current rate $4.60) *For work on Fed contracts only When meals are not provided a per diem of $10 breakfast, $10 for lunch and $15 for dinner will be paid. Driver - non CDL but towing equipment $20.40 (plus fringe) while driving to Fire CDL Driver - Hourly $21.40 (plus fringe) while driving to Fire Bonus Program for end of season based on total declared hours, performance and referrals. It is the nature of our business during fire season to be ready, Tent/Sleeping Bag/Matt., & Clothes be packed, never knowing when the next call will come or where the dispatch will be to. When the phone rings we need to mobilize and depart within hours, day or night.
