Description

Camp HOPE America, Safe Futures is a camping and mentoring program for children and teens in Southeastern Connecticut, impacted by domestic violence. They are focused on creating hope and healing-centered pathways through collaborative, trauma-informed care for youth exposed to trauma to believe in themselves, in others, and in their dreams. Children spend a week at overnight camp during the summer where they challenge themselves to try new things, practice setting goals and finding pathways to those goals, and learn that they are valuable members of their community with the power to have a positive impact on themselves and others. This experience is supported by year-round group mentorship. Campers meet monthly for various field trips and activities to explore their interests and develop new skills, reinforce the concepts they have learned at camp, and reconnect with their friends. Volunteer mentors provide children with support, encouragement, and affirmation to give them the confidence they need to pursue their dreams.
