Attention all genuine classic rockers. Do you not only still play and love classic rock, but were around in its heyday? Are you wishing you could find a group of likeminded musicians who truly understand the genre, and know what it felt like to play it way back when? And, how it sounded and felt? When you hear the term “in the pocket” do you instinctively realize I’m not talking about where you stash your pick or loose change? Do you not only know what to play, but more importantly what not to play? Do you know the term “less is more?” Do you understand what the philosopher Aristotle meant when he said, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts?” Have you heard of Steve Marriot and if so, will you admit he’s the greatest rock singer of all time? Stop scowling. I just threw that in. He is, but you don’t have to believe it. I am a guitarist. I won’t say “lead guitarist” because that’s nonsensical. If you’re the greatest lead guitarist on earth but can’t chug along with the rhythm section without pissing them off, what’s the point? That said, I do both. At this point I’m searching for a bass player and drummer (see above “in the pocket” reference), a second lead/rhythm guitarist (I play nice with others and am not a solo hog) and a singer and/or singer guitarist. Am I opposed to other instrumentation? Say, a sax or keys. Absolutely not. Is a four- or five-piece unit my desire? Not particularly. I won’t throw out the baby grand with the bath water. Let’s see where this goes. Are you all about the $$$ $$$ $$$? Do you desire to be discovered? If you are reading this and even halfway get it, you know that your proverbial record deal ship has not only sailed but is resting comfortably in the Mariana Trench. Get over it. I have. This is probably nothing more than a Proud hail Mary, but… Do I have a place to rehearse? Eh… no. Do I have a P A system? Well, that would be a big “no-siree-Bob.” DO I have any gigs lined up? Okay, that’s just silly. I don’t even have band. What I do have. A love for performing 60’s and 70’s rock and roll. Some 80’s is good, but if you consider Motley Crue, Poison or say, Bon Jovi a classic rock benchmark, we are fer sure in a different universe. Credence, Zeppelin, Cream, Free, Humble Pie, Steppenwolf and Lynyrd Skynyrd are my love language. What say you? Shall we put the "class" back in classic rock.
