LONG BEACH, NY — The Long Beach City Council passed the 2022-2023 budget that includes a 5 percent tax hike, Newsday reports. Last week's vote was 4-1 in favor of the budget that brings, on average, a $219 tax increase per household, Newsday said. Council members said the tax hike was necessary to budget for owed separation pay to retired and former employees, police and firefighters, according to Newsday.
