The LGBTQ Diversity Training is designed to increase 1) knowledge about LGBTQ culture, and elevated risks for mental health and social service needs, 2) LGBTQ-affirming attitudes, and 3) LGBTQ-affirming behaviors. The training will incorporate the following guiding principles:
Variations in sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression are part of the typical spectrum of human diversity.
The increased risks faced by LGBTQ and gender nonconforming youth, particularly those of color, are not inherent to their identities, but stem from the stresses of prejudice, discrimination, rejection, and mistreatment.
Like all youth, LGBTQ and gender nonconforming youth thrive and succeed when their families, schools, and communities support and nurture their evolving identities.
SAFE will be providing 1.5 CEUs for this event and lunch will be provided. If you have any dietary restrictions, please contact Anjelica Mendoza at [email protected] by Monday, April 11th.
