Description
EAST MEADOW, NY — Next weekend, Israelfest (Long Island's largest celebration of Israel), is coming to Eisenhower Park. The event will feature family activities, dancing, kosher food trucks and a performance by Israeli pop star Eliad.
The event is scheduled for June 12 from 3 to 8 p.m. Admission and parking is free. Parking is available at Eisenhower Park's Fields 6 and 6A, and Israelfest takes place at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the day.
Israelfest was started by Sid Jacobson JCC's Randie Waldbaum Malinsky Center for Israel in 2015 as a Yom Ha'atzmaut celebration at Temple Beth Sholom in Roslyn Heights, and has grown into a larger celebration each year taking place at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington. After a hiatus due to the pandemic, the event is back and joining the Celebrate Israel Concert that Jewish Community Relations Council of Long Island hosts each year at Eisenhower Park.
This year's event features a performance from Israel's Eliad. Eliad began his music career in 2011 and his single "Matok Kshemarly" became one of Israel's most successful songs of 2015.
Activities at the event include face painting, pita making, a replica of the Western Wall in Jerusalem, art projects, dancing and more. Food will be available to purchase from Kosher food trucks.
