Melrose Raises A Flag For Pride Month

MELROSE, MA — Pride Month kicked off Wednesday, and Melrose Mayor Paul Brodeur, alongside the Melrose Human Rights Commission, is inviting the whole town to two upcoming events to celebrate. Wednesday, June 8: The City and the Commission will raise a Pride Flag at City Hall at 6:30 p.m., representing Melrose's commitment to being "One Community, Open to All," Mayor Brodeur said in a press release.Friday, June 10: With pop-up booths, face painting, performances and pizza, the Pride celebration on the Beebe Estate lawn will have fun for the whole family. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. "I'm excited to continue our Pride traditions alongside the Human Rights Commission, our LGBTQ+ partners, leaders, advocates and allies," Mayor Paul Brodeur said. "By taking this time to celebrate and recognize the wonderfully diverse and resilient members of our community, we join our LGBTQ+ as allies in the fight against discrimination — and for equality for all. I'm grateful to the Melrose Human Rights Commission for their efforts to support Melrose's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion of all people."
