Press release from City School District of Albany:
May 31, 2022
The City School District of Albany is seeking feedback from students, employees and community members as it considers updates to the Student Code of Conduct for next school year.
You can provide your thoughts, comments, and questions via email by the end of the school day Wednesday, June 1 to [email protected], or join members of the Pupil Personnel Services team at Harriet Gibbons Student Support Center, 75 Watervilet Avenue, on June 1 from 4:30-6 p.m. The Student Code of Conduct supports expectations for student behavior and outlines the promotion of advocacy, character-building and positive conduct. It also defines and identifies interventions and consequences for unacceptable conduct.
Each year the district reexamines and updates the code. Sections under review include the dress code section, additional security violations for students who assist others in bypassing security procedures, and ensuring clarity for misuse of electronic devise to record or publish a fight. Comments received will be shared with the Policy Committee when reviewing edits to the 2022-23 Student Code of Conduct proposed revision at its June 15 meeting. The Board of Education also is scheduled to review proposed changes in July. You can view the 2021-2022 Code of Conduct here. Contact the Pupil Personnel Service Department for more information at (518) 475-6130.
