BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 20-year-old former Bridgeport resident was arrested early Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of 38-year-old Jose Alicea on May 9, according to authorities. Delvon Angel Rodriguez, who formerly lived at 73 Washington Terrace in Bridgeport, was arrested by members of U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force. Details of his arrest were not disclosed. Rodriguez was charged with first-degree manslaughter with a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit. "Based on the evidence, we believe Rodriguez went to his neighbor's house, located at 65 Washington Terrace, and shot him through a first floor window," wrote Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "Alicia allegedly exchanged words with Rodriguez moments before the shooting. In a statement to investigators, Rodriguez admitted to shooting Alicea; allegedly over a conflict Alicea had with his girlfriend earlier that day." Rodriguez is being held in lieu of bail of $1 million, and is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Friday. "This arrest is another example of the excellent work performed by members of the Bridgeport Police Department on a daily basis," Gilleran said. "I would like to specifically thank those members assigned to the Detective Bureau's Homicide Squad. Detective Heanue was the lead homicide investigator."
