BRIDGEPORT, CT — Glenn Pettway, the suspect in the weekend killing of Bridgeport resident Marisol Dumeng, was found dead Thursday morning, following a lengthy standoff with authorities in Jackson, Tennessee, according to Bridgeport police. Pettway is believed to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, said Scott Appleby, Bridgeport's director of the Office of Emergency Management, in a statement. On Wednesday, Bridgeport police received an anonymous tip that Pettway was hiding out at a location in Jackson, Tennessee. "The US Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force immediately acted on this tip relaying information to Tennessee Law Enforcement," Appleby wrote. "Just after 5:00pm (CST), law enforcement confirmed Glenn Pettway was inside a residence armed with a handgun. "After a lengthy standoff, entry was made into the Jackson Tennessee residence on June 2, 2022. Glenn Pettway was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, prior to police making contact with him inside the home. Evidence was seized and collected from the scene. "This remains an ongoing investigation with additional arrest(s) anticipated." Bridgeport police had put out an alert Wednesday that the department was searching for Pettway. He was accused of fatally shooting Dumeng in her home early Saturday. Separately, Pettway was also awaiting trial in connection with the 2018 killing of Alfanso Anderson. "This incident came to conclusion with the public's assistance and the speedy actions of multiple agencies nationwide to include the Jackson Tennessee Police Department, US Marshals Service, and multiple units of the Bridgeport Police Department Detective Bureau and Patrol Division," Appleby said.
