POTTSTOWN, PA — Young people ages 6-20 can answer the call for art entries around the theme "Be The Dream," in a competition sponsored by Pottstown NAACP The Religious Affairs and Education Committees for Pottstown NAACP Branch #2288 ask youth to create art for Black History Month based on one of five themes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 "I Have A Dream" speech. The themes are: Love Over Hate, Let Freedom Ring, Moving Forward Together In Unity, We Are Free At Last, and Justice Like A Flowing Stream. The NAACP said judges will award first, second, and third prizes in age categories. Artwork must be on an 18- by 24-inch piece of paper using a variety of art mediums including pencils, charcoal, paints, oil crayon, ink, and markers. The NAACP judging committee states it has the right to reject that which does not reflect the overall theme or is deemed inappropriate. Entrants will take a photo of their artwork and email it to [email protected] by Jan. 26, and include their name, grade, and contact information with a phone number. Questions can be sent to the email address.
