Kicking off with live music Friday night, the event includes beginner and intermediate swing dancing workshops with professional instructors, and winds up with another live swing band Saturday evening. This event is open to someone who is new to swing dancing all the way up to the more seasoned swing dancer looking to build their dance repertoire. Meet the Instructors:-Robin Carlson & Jerry Foote are the Directors of Dance Force Productions, an award-winning professional dance company which provides dance entertainment & DJ services for corporations, conferences, charity galas, fashion shows, mitzvahs, weddings, and private parties. They have performed with Maroon 5, One Republic, Los Lonely Boys, Taylor Dayne, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Gloria Gaynor, Asleep at the Wheel, and many other famous artists. They have choreographed numerous high school musicals, and are going on their 3rd year of being Choreographers & Lead Swing dancers for Houston’s Urban Nutcracker. Jerry has won many awards in International Lindy Hop competitions. Besides doing all styles of dance, they are well known in the Lindy Hop community for their caring & thorough instruction and entertaining performances. -Mike and Shawna Westervelt started dancing in South Carolina more than a decade ago. When they moved to East Texas, they brought their experience dancing, teaching, and organizing a scene and founded the Longview Swing Dance Association in 2013. They are known for accessible instruction with an emphasis on developing good technique in Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Charleston. Meet the Bands:2 Live Bands to be announced soon... What to Expect?Friday evening 6pm-10pm swing dancing to a live band. Saturday swing dancing workshops from 10am-3pm. Saturday evening swing dancing to a live band. For the workshops, we will offer two simultaneous tracks, including beginner and intermediate lindy hop classes, and all-level classes of solo swing movement and other styles and techniques within the “swing dancing family”. For those who only attend the live band dances, there will be a cost of $10 at the door for each dance.
