Press release from Shreve Memorial Library: June 1, 2022 Saturday, June 11 is World Wide Knit in Public Day, the largest knitter run event in the world. World Wide Knit in Public Day started in 2005, and the event now takes place in 57 different countries. Shreve Memorial Library along with Louisiana Yarn Guys have joined to host a World Wide Knit in Public Day celebration at Shreve Memorial Library Hamilton/South Caddo Branch. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the branch, located at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. The World Wide Knit in Public Day event is open to knitters, weavers, spinners, those who crochet, do needlepoint, or any other fiber crafters of all ages. Participants may bring their own crafting supplies or use supplies provided. Louisiana Yarn Guys will offer free first steps in knitting classes for beginners during the celebration. Classes are available on a first come first serve basis. Louisiana Yarn Guys is a small-batch independent yarn dyer based here in Shreveport. The company dyes yarn to order.
